Sunflower delight

Today I wanted to do a cheery table using bright happy sunflowers but not in the usual blues and yellows.

I have these beautiful bright green and yellow  dishes that were my inspiration with a tiny red lady bug in the center of the sunflowers

they have so many colors to use I picked out the black check and mimicked that with black  checked piece of material over yellow checked with bright lime green placemats and napkins

there are tiny ladybugs throughout and at an antique store a woman was passing these little gems out she said they were good luck pieces I knew they would match these dishes

I wish she had given me a handful instead of just one

some sunflowers, sorry didn't get a chance to get to Trader Joes for some real ones.

I added my trademark beads in multi colors to match, yellows, lime green and black.

Here is a book I have all about sunflowers and the magic of these beauties how they turn their faces to the sun.

pretty napkins with antique inlet lacing over mint green napkins with sunflower material wrapped around a white napkin ring and yellow drinking glasses. I used green chargers, black plates yellow flowered plates green mint plates that photographed real blurry so threw that one out with a black floral dessert plate for the layers.

I love the black green and yellows together

 long view of the table

Yes I ironed the black fabric but my over head fan was blowing. Dam I mean darn what the camera picks up but we can't see.

I found sunflower cupcake liners I thought were so cute and fit right in .I didn't use a cake stand this time but raised up the candles instead on pedestals.

glasses ready for umm maybe some ice cold Lime-ade??

Here are both books on display one in the traditional blue and yellow

great contrast of colors don't you think?

My son recently graduated from college and before the ink was dry on his diploma he has been seeking adventure. First he and his best friend flew to Hawaii for two week vacation with lots of diving and snorkeling, now he is in Alaska  working as a bartender on a cruise ship for four months doing all kinda of neat things like kayaking the inner passage, taking polar bear swims and hanging out with humpback whales. two years ago he published this small book of all his favorite things sunflowers being on the top of the list.

I made this tablescape in his honor. I want him to have a great time but I really miss him  and can't wait for him to come home. wishing  everyone a sunny happy sunflower summer day. May you find joy in even the smallest things  in life and enjoy yourself.
It's thursday I will be linking up with Susan at Betweennapsontheporch join us

Ethereal green and pink

I created this tablescape after I had purchased this soft pink and green fabric so sheer like gossamer and gave off this Ethereal look.

The dessert plates are the softest mint green not yellow like they look in the photos

I pulled out my tri-level cake plates in soft pink and filled with cupcakes(fake) and flowers made of burlap and lace

you can see the napkins are the same as the tablecloth with a soft green undertone otherwise you couldn't see them at all.

I used pink goblets for candles and pulled all my pink depression glass out

I just love this glass it is probably the only thing I own that is girly-girly

the pink plates were a new find at an antique store what a steal they were on the bottom shelf buried under a bunch of stuff with dust a least an inch thick four plates in perfect condition for $12.00 I love the scalloped edges on them

I'm sorry and cheated  I used fake cupcakes instead of baking some real ones. well hey it's been my vacation all week and just haven't had the time  to make any plus it's the summer who wants to turn the oven on when it's 91 degrees outside

These are fake or should I say(faux) using tackle compound but show up as photo props real well. I'm sorry to say I have to return to work tomorrow. I wish I could afford to retire but that isn't happening for another ten years. It sure has been fun playing this week doing anything I wanted. I went to Disney Land for the first time in 26 years with my brother that haven't seen in 7 years. Got to go to the beach, spent a whole day antiquing and shopping, caught up with some old friends and drove out to Palms Springs and went on the Tram  car. Spectacular hope everyone is having a great summer talk to you all real soon.I will be joining Susan  with Tablescape Thursday@ http// betweennapsontheporch.net

a beachy kinda day

I loved doing the colors of red white and blue but as soon as I had it up I couldn't wait to plan my next table.I knew it had to be a beach theme for summer and the colors would be sea greens, teal, and soft shades of blue

I already had everything I needed so basically this was all free just shopping around my rooms

I loved the way the sunlight came thru the window and the reflection it gave off

This is one of a pair of cake plates that are my favorite with the teal and green together

litehouse, seashells, antique napkins, teal blue dessert plates

mini bottles, large cloches, sea shell platters help bring this theme together

the table is set for two maybe we will have some shrimp on the barbie or maybe some giant coconut prawns

Not a very good picture of my napkins they are real pretty with shell and seahorses on them
I added a dolphin cookie cutter that I used in making a Make A Wish Cake for a little girl who was going to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas and was going to play with the dolphins

the starfish cookie cutter I used as a cake pop with her name on it.

Well as soon as the sun sets I will light the candles and get ready for my beachy dinner. It has been just one of those lazy summer days here. Hope everyone is having a great summer.
