This is my favorite recipe from Williams Sonoma and I have used it so many times the pages are permanently stained. |
I used my cranberry Temp-tations plates and pulled out the pieces to match that I never get to use. |
I am going to warm some salted caramel sauce to pour over the ice cream to go on top of the hot pie.Won't get much use of these little crab apples but they sure are cute. |
This lovely platter is a cookie sheet I used instead of a cake plate and when the candles are lit the reflection of the leaves on these little votives is so pretty. |
Perfect individual little pie or tart pans on top of each place setting I debated on making a big pie or little individual ones. |
The mugs are waiting for some warm apple cider.Trader Joe's has their spiced cider out now.I wait all year to buy this stuff. With an extra cinnamon stick as a stirrer YUM |
Oh, Susie! I'm so sorry to hear about your brother! The weight of such sorrow, along with the frustrations you're dealing with, is a heavy trial. I'll be praying for you and your family! Some readers might be shocked you feel like posting at such a time, but sometimes it helps us to do a normal thing when things are not normal at all. It can be good for us in healing and grieving. Baking helps, too, doesn't it? Your pie looks amazing! I love the idea of salted caramel, although I've never made it. Spiced cider sounds wonderful with your pie!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you, my new friend!

Oh Kim hearing such kind words from a total stranger justs warms my heart. I posted because I did not know what else to do. We were unable to return him to the USA and he had to be buried in a foreign land. My heart is so heavy but blog land is it's own community I have learned why it is so great because we all share and feel and help each other like you reaching out to me now. Thank you thank you thank you .Susue
DeleteIt's bad enough to hear that your brother passed away, but the challenge of returning him makes it even more difficult. My thoughts are with you. As for the apple pie, my hubby would have loved to shared a piece as it's his favorite, and I don't make it nearly often enough.
ReplyDeleteDear Lulu thank you for your very kind words and thoughts we were unable to return him to the states and had to be buried instead so he won't ever be able too come home.If you are ever in San Diego I will make you and your husband your very own pie. Again thank you.Susie
DeleteOh if only you lived closer....We'd sit down and eat that pie with a cup of coffee.....I can smell it from here!

ReplyDeleteYum that pie looks too good! I need to make one since I have extra apples right now. I like your new tablecloth- great colors! I wish I had a Trader Joe's nearby but they haven't made it up this far north yet! Those cranberry dishes are perfect for the season.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say I am so sorry about the loss of your brother and then to have to deal with a foreign government about his remains- how agonizing. Perhaps it's comforting knowing he is at peace and even though his earthly body is no more his spirit lives on with all of you. My condolences.
ReplyDeleteLiz I thank you from the bottom of my heart for such random acts of kind and my family I know would appreciate your kind words also.He landed up being cremated and they buried some of his ashes in a celebration of life and many people in Belize came for it. thank you again for reaching out to a stranger .thanks you for such a sweet comment on my blog you sure did lift my spirits.Susie

DeleteSusie, I am so sorry to have missed this post. Dear lady how heavy it must lay upon your heart to have lost your brother. I am so sorry for your loss. There is so much sorrow when we loose a loved one and to have to deal with a bureaucracy to try and bring your brother home must have been overwhelming.
