Dec Challenge

Oh I am so excited Kathleen from Cuisine Kathleen has issued another challenge and I couldn't wait for Dec to get here so I could post this.

The challenge is to recreate a design we found somewhere else like Pinterest or a catalog or anywhere we could find one. I had just gotten this book in the mail from Better Homes and Gardens and knew I wanted to create this for my take on the challenge.I have never done this so I hope this is ok and acceptable.Oops just noticed forgot the candycanes

I got the clear plates at Dollar Tree and followed the directions in the book it was fun creating the border out of silver chenille stems. then you had to cover the plate in paper dots and tissue paper. You can't eat on these they are just for showing off and the total cost for four plates was under $6.00 I made the place holders in different colors but stayed with the overall colors of RED and Green I love these colors for Christmas and as you can tell my whole house boosts this color pattern.

I found this adorable tree pattern material at Walmart and knew that Christmas trees was my theme. I got to pull out my absolute best ever favorite cake plate the one with Red shoes on it, layered another cake plate and topped both of these in a Star cake plate creating in effect a tree for the centerpiece.I had the napkins and loved how the Dots are everywhere from the plates to the goblets to the cake stands.the polka dots in the napkins pick up the dots from the fabric.Aren't the colors beautiful together?

Here is a little red dotted cake stand holding the Christmas tree salt n pepper shakers

I used two sets of chargers one red the other silver and made the glassware from Dollar tree also exactly like in the pictures.I pulled all  (well not all can't leave the rest of the house bare now can I )Christmas trees I had everywhere for more red and green color on the table

See the tiny dotted ornaments here? and I even found a site on Pinterest that showed how to make your own straws

See I told you I loved the red and green theme trust me I have tried using other colors but always get drawn back to the red and greens

I added some feather trees I have in red and white I guess I need to find a green one too. I splurged on these red dotted Goblets  from Home Goods I would never normally buy something like this but figured I didn't own any and I could always use them for Valentine's Day,so you are going to see them alot here for Christmas I want to get as much use out of them as I can.

This has been one of the funnest(is that a word) of a tablescape yet I Love the colors of Christmas.

Isn't this a gem of a little stand something about charms hanging from a cake stand that makes me go crazy

I was going to enlarge this pic until I saw the water spots on the fork Yikes how the camera can see stuff that our eyes don't or am I just getting to old?Anyway these napkin rings are lenox Christmas trees I got in my great haul at Goodwill last Christmas. unopened brand new they were 75% off for a total for 6 for1,29 LENOX are they kidding me here?Well you know I grabbed them up so fast

A little sparkle and bling added

I added little presents on each plate aren't Christmas trees supposed to have presents with them?

Here are pics of the whole table but once I posted I didn't know how to change the angle so you have to tilt your head Sorry

oops did it again

Well looky here you didn't have to get a crink in your neck for this one

Well I hope I passed the challenge boy did I have fun with this one but that's why we do this right? 2. I love it when a plan comes together. You saw what you wanted, you made the plan to create it, you worked the plan, and voila! Beautiful table!!! I love the way the plates turned out, they really look just like the ones in the magazine - so pretty and Christmas-y. You will get a lot of use from the dotted red wine glasses I am sure. Valentine's Day will be here before you know it and you will be all rock and roll and ready to go on a Valentine tablescape.... Candy

    1. Hi Candy Didn't this all come together very well? I felt like a kid in a candy store making everything work together. My cats had a field day trying to chew up the pipe cleaner trims on the plates. the only problem is storing the plates I don't know how well they will stack up. Hope you and your family have a great week.Susie

    1. Hi Fabby wasn't this challenge a fun one finding the right table to copy there are so many of them out there.?I love material and would probably buy tons more if I had a sewing machine. I think fabric works so much better than buying tablecloths all the time.Wishing you and your family a Happy week.Susie

  4. Suzy, you nailed it! Those plates are so cute...it's too bad the manufacturer doesn't color both sides of the dots, that way you could put them on the underside of the plates so you would be able to use them. I love all the lime and red you have...I am jealous, especially of that adorable footed cake plate! Did you make the feather trees, too? I made a red one, a few years back.
    Have a great week.

    1. Oj Jacqueline I too love all of Patience Brewster and have seen that table TOO CUTE. I wish I could get her shoe salt n pepper shakers and the pedestal rectangular plate but sad to say way out of my pocket book. I got the cake stand on ebay and bid on it it had three tiny cracks(well hidden) and a chip off the back shoe but a steal for about the tenth of regular price. Loved your aqua tablescape so classy and elegant. there is a Christmas store in San Diego that specializes in all of Patience Brewsters stuff so fun and whimsical.Wasn't this challenge fun?Susie
